Extra curricular activities

You can attend and enjoy one extracurricular activity every week day. This will give you the opportunity to also learn about Salamanca where you are going to live during your course. You will also have the chance to interact with Salamanca citizens and improve your Spanish learning as well as get to know the city’s atmosphere. Some of these activities are free other have an extra but affordable cost.
It requires a language level A2 to participate in the activities.

Spanish movies. In our premises, have a home cinema system that we also use to show Spanish films. We own a wide collection of Spanish and Hispano-American films that you could enjoy and practice your listening with. You will also be able to identify the different accents (if your level is quite advanced).

Tutorials. If you had any question or doubts about your Spanish course during your stay, once a week, you will be able to attend one of this tutorials where one of our teachers will be happy to answer your questions.

Guided tours. The first day of your stay in Salamanca, in the afternoon, you will have the chance to visit our city together with guide who will be giving historic data and information about the main Salamanca monuments. Along the tour you will be visiting the cathedrals, the University façade (here is where you can find “la Rana” the frog and discover its legend, la “Casa de las Conchas” (the house of shells), el Huerto de Calixto y Melibea (the orchard of Calixto and Melibea), (where you will get to know the story about “La Celestina”. All these amongst other spots in Salamanca.

Tapas tasting. In Spain it is quite common to go out for tapas and Salamanca is also very famous for this reason. You will have a chance to go out to a bar with someone from the school for some tapas tasting. The bar will organize a number of tapas just for us. You will try some great Spanish food.

Cooking lessons. Once a week our students can go to a restaurant where a professional cook will teach them to cook typical Spanish dishes. For the time being, we are teaching who to prepare Spanish omelet, paella and sangria. Students can ask for another recipe in advanced.

Dancing lessons. The interest for Spanish dancing and music is growing every day around the world. The Latin rhythms are in. Therefore, at DICE you can learn how to dance Caribbean dancing, salsa and flamenco. Usually, once a month, For this activity, we work together with a professional dancing school where can learn the main steps.

This activity is offered specially for groups, however, individual students can attend if there is a minimum of five students interested in doing it.

Price: 8€ aprox.


Excursions. Salamanca is located in a region with beautiful views. Gredos and Peña de Francia are located about an hour drive south of Salamanca. Northwest, you can find a granite gap, (Los Arribes). This is guiding the Duero River and it is also the border with Portugal. On the eastern side, between the Tormes River and the Tajo, you can find large fields and oak meadows where the bulls graze

Avila (Heritage city since 1985) with its wall, Zamora and Valladolid (former capital of Spain) are the closest main cities.

We are aware of the interest you might have about history, landscapes and monuments, therefore, we organize day trips to these places.

You can also visit places like Segovia, Toledo, Madrid, Caceres, etc.

For groups, DICE organizes day trips to these and some other destinations. We can book transport and accommodation (if requested) for the group as well as museum tickets tour guides, etc.

The pay trips will take place only if there is a minimum number of students interested.

Price: between 30-45€ aprox.


Photo rally. Our students will have to fulfill a number of tasks based on taking pictures and recording videos. You will have to interact with people on the streets in order to get them done. You will have to use your Spanish, be polite asking for things, places and help. For example: ask someone on the street to sing a popular Spanish song and record a video of it.

Hot chocolate and churros. On Friday morning you will have the chance to try hot chocolate and churros. One of our teachers will give you some information about this product (recipe, tradition, etc.

Karaoke. In order to practice the Spanish pronunciation in a fun way, you will be able to sing some Spanish songs. We count on a number of songs in karaoke format. The songs can be from Spain or Latinamerica. Definitely a fun and easy way to practice your Spanish learning.
